The Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s Gen Forward Network has been selected as a member of the 2025–26 Thrive for Community Foundations cohort, an initiative of Philanthropy Together

The national program supports existing giving circles in deepening member engagement, strengthening leadership, and planning for long-term sustainability. Through training, coaching, and resources, the cohort helps participating organizations enhance their giving circle models and expand their collective impact.

Gen Forward Network joins 15 giving circles from community foundations across the country in this year's cohort.

“At Philanthropy Together, we believe giving circles are one of the most effective ways to democratize philanthropy and strengthen local communities,” said the organization in a statement. “When people pool their resources and decide together, they build power and belonging.”

Gen Forward Network relaunched in 2025 after a brief hiatus. It has continued its mission of bringing emerging philanthropists together to invest in Genesee County’s future. Through pooled contributions, members award grants to local grassroots organizations and initiatives.

Since its founding in 2013, the network has welcomed more than 165 members and distributed over $105,000 in grants across Genesee County.

Membership is open year-round to anyone, anywhere, with a one-time annual contribution of $300 or $25 monthly installments toward the collective fund. Members connect through community events, mixers, and hands-on volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
