Homegrown Philanthropy
Genesee County is made up of distinct communities, each with its own history and its own needs. Five communities have endowed community funds: Clio, Davison, Fenton, Flushing, and Grand Blanc.
Each fund is guided by a local advisory committee made up of residents who know their community from the inside. They review the grant proposals, decide which nonprofits get funded, and put dollars back into the same neighborhoods where the fund was built. The people who live there decide where the impact lands.
