Alexandria Dawson is on a mission of working towards the common good in Flint and Genesee County, her hometown. For the past five years, she has had the pleasure of working with next generation donors, cultivating online giving campaigns, creating and managing digital content and coordinating special events.
Prior to working at the Community Foundation, Alexandria honed in on her love of community by serving as a neighborhood liaison to the Northside Development Corporation of Spartanburg, SC as a part of the Bonner Scholars program.
As a Bonner Scholar at Wofford College, she took part in intensive and meaningful service with a local community organizations in Spartanburg, SC over the four years she was an undergraduate student. In addition to service, scholars engaged in trainings on leadership development and social justice topics to become aware of how the problems and issues of their communities influence their service work and public policy.
She also launched and implemented successful fundraising campaigns which led to an increase in donations for Wofford College for three years.
Alexandria believes that everyone no matter their age, race, gender, sexuality or background can make a difference in their community. Working for the Community Foundation has given her the opportunity to help people to do so.
Alexandria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Wofford College. She currently serves on the Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy Michigan Chapter Steering Committee and spends her spare time as a track coach to local youth.
