Alexandria Dawson is on a mission of working towards the common good in Flint and Genesee County, her hometown. She currently serves as Program Officer who manages the foundation’s digital communications and the women and youth-related grantmaking, including the Flint Women and Girls Fund and the Youth Initiative Program Funds.
Prior to working at the Community Foundation, Alexandria honed in on her love of community by serving as a neighborhood liaison at the Northside Development Corporation of Spartanburg, SC. As a Bonner Scholar she took part in intensive and meaningful service with many different local community organizations in Spartanburg, SC for four years.
Alexandria believes that everyone no matter their age, race, gender, sexuality or background can make a difference in their community. Working for the Community Foundation has given her the opportunity to help people to do so.
Alexandria earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Wofford College. She currently serves on the Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy Michigan Chapter Steering Committee, is a member of the Communications Network and spends her spare time volunteering as a cross country and track coach to local youth.
