Jayashree "Jay" Kommareddi is the 2026 recipient of the Libby Award. Since moving to Genesee County from Delhi, India over 50 years ago, she has worked as an organizer, advocate, volunteer, and administrative healthcare professional. 

"I am truly honored and humbled to receive the Libby Award," Kommareddi shared. "Libby's advocacy, engagement and empowerment of women and girls in addition to her philanthropy make her an icon in our community statewide. " 

A longtime anti-trafficking advocate, Kommareddi chaired the MI Women's Commission's Human Trafficking Initiative and the Michigan Human Trafficking Health Advisory Board and co-founded the Genesee County Human Trafficking Task Force. 

Kommareddi and her husband, Prasad, established the Kommareddi Family Fund and Arts & Culture Fund at CFGF, supporting arts and culture countywide, including a Flint Institute of Arts lecture series on Indian art and culture. She also created the Suseela Kanuri & Satyavathi Anne Fund—named for her mother and sister—through CFGF's Flint Women and Girls Fund and supports Mott Community College's Women in Education program. 

Kommareddi has volunteered with the Genesee County Medical Society Alliance, served 15 years on the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic board, and served on the Mott Children's Health Center board, among other local and statewide boards. 

"What I have learned over the decades is to get out of your comfort zone," Kommareddi said. "Meeting diverse groups of people, learning new skills, being challenged by new ideas, and embracing change will make you a better leader and person." 

About the Award 

The Flint Women and Girls Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint created the Libby Award in 2000 to honor Olivia P. "Libby" Maynard, a lifelong philanthropist and advocate for women and girls of Genesee County. We present this award every two years to an outstanding woman who, over an expansive lifetime, has demonstrated these qualities.
