Carma Lewis is the recipient of the 2026 Lynn Williams Neighbor Spotlight Award. 

Lewis is president of Flint Neighborhoods United and a "huge fan" of her hometown, Flint. She has spent her career and much of her free time working to make Flint's neighborhoods more vibrant and its residents more engaged. 

"Receiving the Lynn Williams Neighbor Spotlight Award is more than what I had imagined," Lewis said. "It proves to me that I'm doing something right in the community." 

Lewis' involvement in Flint started in childhood, volunteering with the Flint Northern High School Marching Band and cutting neighbors' grass. That early service grew into a lifelong commitment to her hometown. 

Today, Lewis brings residents and organizations together through Flint Neighborhoods United, where neighbors share information and combine resources to create positive change across the greater Flint community. 

Lewis also serves on the Community Foundation of Greater Flint's board of trustees and chairs its Neighborhoods Small Grants Advisory Committee. She is Community Relations Manager for the Genesee County Land Bank, where she works to make Land Bank programs more transparent and more accessible to residents. Previously, she was office manager for Dan Kildee during his time as a U.S. Representative. 

"I give back because Flint is my home, and it is my job to take care of home," Lewis said. 

About the Award 

The Lynn Williams Neighbor Spotlight Award is presented annually at the Community Foundation of Greater Flint's Art of Philanthropy celebration. It honors a Genesee County resident whose leadership and love for community help make Flint more vibrant and equitable. 

Named for Lynn Williams, the Foundation's longest-serving staff member, the award recognizes people who lead with humility and build deep relationships close to home, from neighborhood clean-ups and mentoring to food drives and everyday acts of kindness. 

Lynn Williams is the inaugural recipient in 2025, honoring decades of service and the lives she has touched. The award carries her legacy forward, spotlighting neighbors who keep making good happen, block by block.
