Preserving All That is Good

Sitting on a bench overlooking Leroy Street, Linda Hathaway reflects on the ebbs and flows of Fenton’s downtown development. She remembers the Rowena Theater surrounded by a vibrant business district, the tearing down of the past, and now the rebuilding of something new. She takes great pride in her hometown and works every day to make it better.

Linda has served on the Fenton Community Fund Advisory Committee for 17 years. In that time, she has experienced the impact of local giving and grantmaking through the Fund. Support for the Fenton Community and Cultural Center, Library, parks, recreation, and the schools gives her a sense of satisfaction. “Having been born and raised here, it’s important to me to preserve these things for the future,” Linda says.

As owner of the Brad Hoffman Insurance Agency, Linda is very involved in the business community, is an active Chamber member, and enjoys giving to the vibrancy of the community.

“Through my involvement with the Fenton Community Fund, I’ve had a pulse on community needs. I’ve enjoyed being involved in grant decisions, and having the satisfaction of seeing a grant come to fruition.”

She expects continued growth in the area, with new types of businesses popping up on Leroy Street, another multi-use development underway on the corner, and expansion of the popular Crust Bakery.

“It’s been great to be involved with projects that will be here for a long time … for my children and grandchildren.”
