2017 Tips for Year End Giving

As we enter the holiday season and the end of 2017, the Community Foundation of Greater Flint is poised to assist you with your year-end giving. So that we can provide the best possible service and ensure your year-end gifts qualify for a charitable income tax deduction in the 2017 tax year, please keep these important tips and dates in mind:

Gifts of Cash
Checks made payable to Community Foundation of Greater Flint sent via the U.S. Postal Service to the Community Foundation office must be postmarked on or before Dec. 31, 2017.

Contact Sandra Murphy, Director of Donor Services, for more information.

Gifts may be brought to the Community Foundation office during regular business hours. CFGF is closed Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25-26. We will be open Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 27-28; and are open until 3 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017.

Credit card gifts made by phone must be made no later than 3 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2017.

For online gifts made by credit card, the transaction posting date must be on or before December 31, 2017 to qualify for an income tax deduction this year.

Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds are the most flexible fund at the Community Foundation and allow you to maximize your tax deduction in a given year. Donor advised funds can be established until December 28, 2017.
