Black Philanthropy Fund

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint is committed to creating lasting and transformative change for the Black community in Flint and Genesee County.
We are pleased to announce the establishment of the Black Philanthropy Fund – the first permanently endowed fund to benefit Black-led organizations. The purpose of the Black Philanthropy Fund is to help with the redistribution of power within the Flint community. This fund seeks to creating lasting, transformative change by funding Black-led nonprofit organizations that are often left behind.
The endowed fund will serve as a permanent resource to nonprofit organizations that are Black-led and/or Black-benefitting. Black-led organizations are defined as groups with primarily a Black board of directors, executive leadership, staff, and constituency. Black-led social change organizations are those that meet this definition and aim to build power in Black communities.
We are honored that Genesee County donors have come forward to not only establish this fund with their generous gifts but have committed to growing the fund.
Participate in the Growth of the Black Philanthropy Fund by:
- Making a gift – of any size – to grow the endowment.
- Honor a significant person in your life with a significant gift.
- Host a party or ask a CFGF staff member to meet with you and a potential donor.
- Designate a portion of your estate to the Black Philanthropy Fund.
