Grand Blanc Community Fund

The Community Foundation of Greater Flint serves all of Genesee County—an area comprised of many communities, each with its own history and character. The Grand Blanc Community Fund Advisory Committee works with the Community Foundation’s professional staff to grow the community permanent endowment.

Ezra Perry, fondly known as “Mr. Grand Blanc,” envisioned a day when funds may be needed to support community projects. In 1968, Perry gathered a group of like-minded citizens and created a charitable trust named the Grand Blanc Community Foundation. The Foundation made grants for the next 21 years but was struggling to meet the public support test prescribed by the Internal Revenue Service. In 1989, the Grand Blanc Community Foundation partnered with the Community Foundation and became the Grand Blanc Community Fund.

We call it Homegrown Philanthropy, and it’s helping to secure the future for generations to come.
