CFGF Supports Downtown Flint Activities

Downtown Flint has been bursting with activity all summer, and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (CFGF) proudly supported two major events.

Flint’s 100th celebration of the founding of General Motors was culminated with a parade of automobiles from 1908 to 2008, sponsored by CFGF. The Genesee County Historical Society organized the celebration and was awarded a $5,000 grant for the parade. Grants dollars came from the Elton West Fund, the Olivia P. Maynard and Olof Karlstrom Fund and the Charles and Larue Pemberton Fund.

The Flint Jazz Festival 2008 was sponsored by the Greater Flint Arts Council and the CFGF supported this event with a $2,500 grant from the Community Impact Fund. The annual festival brings diverse groups of people together from all over the county to enjoy a variety of jazz music in downtown Flint’s Riverbank Park.
