The Community Foundation of Greater Flint
Flint Women & Girls Fund

When women pool their passions with their charitable interests, amazing things can happen.

In 1985, a group of local women made contributions to the Flint Public Trust with the purpose of supporting programs to benefit local women and girls. They named it the Flint Women and Girls Fund (FWGF) and the first meeting was held at the home of Jan Burnside.

Twenty-six years later, an impressive group of women have carried out the founders’ original intentions. The endowment has grown from its initial gifts of $10,497 to its current asset value of $361,000. Over $178,000 has been granted to organizations committed to strengthening women and girls in Genesee County – a testament to the collective power of pooling charitable interests.

Most recently, the Fund made a grant for a research project entitled, “The Status of Women and Girls in Genesee County.”
